Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Company provides the materials and Wayside Families can purchase books and products at extremely discounted prices. The library is able to purchase new materials and the teachers receive items for their classrooms. The tentative dates are in November and March.
Boxtops: We will be collecting box tops each month from the classroom and have a grade level drawing for a box top spirit stick reward as well as an end of the year award for the student who collects the most box tops throughout year. The money raised from this program pays for things like “Weekly Readers” and “Time for Kids” classroom subscriptions.
Carnival: Wayside Families come out to PLAY on a chosen Saturday in the fall. Our school is transformed into a MIDWAY with games of skill, chance and bouncy houses! Please join us!
Hallway Escorts: Events such as Picture Day, Vision Screenings, and others require helpers to chauffeur children back and forth to their classrooms, so that learning time doesn't come to a screeching halt.
Handy Dads: Sometimes dad's have a hard time finding a place to volunteer. Let us know your talents, and we can put your skills to work!
He & Me Dance: Oh, how the little girls like to get fancied up and have a date with dad/grandpa/etc! Moms, we would love to have your help in the planning of this event as well as the night of. Hint: It's a great way to capture some very sweet pictures your dot will treasure!
Hospitality: This committee organizes and hosts appreciation lunches for teachers and staff, three times during the school year. Wayside Parents work together to put on these events with a nice meal, door prizes and providing volunteers in the classroom so all may attend.
Indoor Marquee & Website: Deliver important messages via indoor TV monitor & WPSA website.
Mom/Son Night: Fun and activities will avail on this exciting night for Wayside boys and their mom-figures! Dads - we can use your help!
Popcorn: One Friday each month, kids have the opportunity to purchase a bag of Popcorn. They are delivered to the classroom and enjoyed during the day.
Spring Fundraiser: Our spring fundraiser pays for all of the school's field trips. Without this money our kids wouldn't be able to go to amazing places like Woolaroc, Tulsa Air & Space Museum, and the Tulsa Aquarium, just to name a few!
Super Kids Day: The kid's FAVORITE day of the year! Bouncy houses, water guns, snacks, games - it's basically all-day recess! We need a TON of help to make this day a success!
Teacher Appreciation Week: This committee plans out all kinds of fun things to show our teachers and staff that we appreciate them. During the week, we do Sonic runs, decorate doors, and host a fabulous luncheon, among other things.
Test Monitors: A few times a year, our kids are put to the test – State Tests, that is. Each classroom will be required to have someone in addition to the teacher monitoring students for standardized testing. We need many volunteers to share a couple of hours in the month of April.
Walk-A-Thon: Fitness, fun and finance go with this fall fundraiser. This year the event will kick-off on September 12th and the walk will be Friday, September 26th. Children raise sponsors and the monies go to a large purchase that all the kids can enjoy. Previous years have provided roller skates, a climbing wall, a marquee and a closed circuit TV system for the school to broadcast morning messages on TV’s in the classroom and interactive white boards.
Walk-to-School Day: A national day that encourages physical fitness by walking (at least partway) to school. Those that participate receive a treat when they arrive at school!
Yearbook: We have a great book! It is colorful and fun. You can help take pictures, assemble pages, take orders etc. There are many ways to help and the end product is very rewarding.
